Fans feared for the future of Manchester United last night after American tycoon Malcolm Glazer grabbed control. They threatened a series of banner-waving PROTESTS, a mass BOYCOTT of games and money-spinning merchandise - and even held out the prospect of setting up a NEW club. They believe ruthless Glazer, 76, will have to squeeze more cash from them to pay for his £790.3million takeover bid. And they warned the club would be left so debt-ridden it might never again afford to buy stars like £30million striker Wayne Rooney - and could even risk losing its Old Trafford stadium. As a 1,000-strong crowd gathered outside the ground, fan Oliver Houston said Glazer "would be free to rape and pillage and plunder the coffers to line his own pockets". Mr Houston belongs to Shareholders United, a group of fans which hoped to buy enough of a stake in the club to save it from such a raid. He added: "We warned Glazer a long time ago that no customers means no profit. He is about to see how much strength supporters at this club do have." An effigy of the businessman was set ablaze on railings while supporters marched round with the sign: "Manchester United - Not For Sale".
